Now retired after a long touring car career after Formula 1. Whilst temporarily out of a drive, the deaths of Peruzzi and Alboreto forced his decision to quit. He still keeps some links to racing, as for many years he went testing on Bridgestone's track near his home in Rome, acting as an advisor and erstwhile test driver for the Japanese tyre manufacturer, as well as a brand ambassador and as a racing instructor for them, which has also saw him based in Dubai for a bit. He still works with Bridgestone but in the marketing and branding side of the tyre business. Stefano became particularly renowned for his work as a tyre development engineer and driver. Modena also ran a kart business for a while after stopping as a racer. In 2019, Stefano did a long interview for this site which can be found at the below link.
