Heir to a tiling business, Andrea mainly racef in sportscars or GT's, including Italian GT's and the GT Open Series. In 2015, he was in the Blancpain series, but also appeared in touring cars. In 2016, he appeared in the InterContinental GT Challenge Series, before moving back to the GT Open Series in 2017. In 2018, Andrea moved into the European Le Mans Series. In 2021, however, Andrea had to largely retire from racing after contracting coronavirus and struggling with the effects of long Covid. Montermini - who is possibly the shortest ever Grand Prix driver at 5 foot 2 inches tall (certainly he's the shortest driver in the modern era where height was recorded) - was a race winner in Formula Boxer, Italian Formula 3 and International Formula 3000 but was hampered by a lack of money. Andrea also raced in America and Champ Car in 1993 before having a few years of struggle in Formula 1 with underfunded teams. Montermini also works as a driving coach and as a safe driving advocate.
