Predominantly based in hillclimbs and sportscars. A very popular local racer, he carried on in sportscars until 1972. Luigi started racing as a youngster in 1951 and fond his niche in road racing and sportscars, almost always racing in some form of his privately owned Ferrari sportscar. Although the race was not the same prestigious event it had been due to de Portago's death a year previously, Luigi won the Mille Miglia in 1958 with Gerino Gerini. Taramazzo also took a class win in the 1968 Sebring 12 Hour race.
