GP2 2016 Championship runner-up and Ferrari test and third driver who made his debut at short notice at the 2017 Australian Grand Prix for Sauber due to regular driver Wehrlein's back injury. Giovinazzi also finished as the European Formula 3 runner-up in 2015, but did win the Formula Pilota Chinese Championship in 2012. Another karting graduate, Antonio was also a British Formula 3 race winner. When Antonio made his Formula 1 debut, he became the first Italian Grand Prix debutant for twelve years, breaking the longest barren spell the country had in Grand Prix history. Giovinazzi was Sauber-Alfa Romeo's reserve and test driver in 2018 and earned the step up to a race drive in 2019, which he retained for 2021. However, he lost his seat at the end of that year and moved to Formula E for 2022. In 2023, he is a Ferrari test driver and is racing in the WEC, winning Le Mans that year. He retained his seat for 2025 in the WEC.
