Perpetually positive and smiling chap, who was tragically killed in a motorbike accident in Rome, where he had one of his two bases. Also lived in Monte Carlo and was happily retired from the sport. He also took part in windsurfing and his time was mainly spent working as a currency trader. However, he made a surprise return to racing in winter 2005/06 in the Grand Prix Masters. Andrea never ended up winning a Grand Prix but he did shirk his previous reputation as a regular accident-prone driver to become a respected and consistent elder statesman by the time he left Formula 1.
