Initially a racer, who appeared in Formula 2, Coloni retired in the early 1980's to run his own team, firstly in Formula 3, and then continued to do so, on and off, until GP2 until 2012. Enzo won the Italian F3 title, aged 36, in 1982 and came very close to racing in Formula 1 with Arrows in 1983, but couldn't bring a full budget, so decided to stop. This team management included a hard-trying but largely unsuccessful stint in Formula 1. He constructed, promoted and ran the entire field for Auto GP, and son Paolo has also become a team boss, running a team in touring cars. Coloni was also involved in the former racing series, World Series by Nissan and has been instrumental in helping with many racing drivers careers, including Alonso, Nico Rosberg, Capelli, Larini, Filippi, Pantano, Bruni and Baumgartner. Coloni himself is no longer directly involved in any team management but remains linked to the sport.
