Came into F1 in 1988 with Minardi and stayed there until 1995 - as chief designer of the Minardi car, he oversaw their finest moments, including their first front row, first lap lead and highest finishing position in both indiviudal races and the constructor championship. Aldo worked at Ferrari, who he joined straight after leaving Minardi, until 2011, and had numerous roles including deputy chief designer and technical director at the team. That year, he stepped down to do other projects after a disappointing start to the season but soon left the team altogether and was with Mercedes in a similiar role. In 2019, Costa moved into a consultancy role with Mercedes and in 2020 joined Dallara as their technical chief.
