Ferrari (1929-1988)

Perhaps, arguably, the most legendary name in motorsport, Ferrari was still at the helm of his empire when he died. Ferrari overcame ill-health as a child, teenager and young man to start a career testing cars for Costruzini Mecchaniche Nazional before moving to Alfa Romeo, with whom he won four Formula Libre races in 1923 and 1924, which included beating Tazio Nuvolari. However illness affected him again and Enzo soon moved into organisation and management, forming Scuderia Ferrari in 1929. He retired completely from driving when son Dino was born in 1932 and then went on to establish his multi-championship winning, Worldwide iconic racing team, automobile manufacturing, global brand.
