Engine specialist, who came from the aircraft industry. He later became head of Fiat engine design and then became managing director of Fiat Abarth until 1982. Lampredi started his career at Piaggio, the maker of Vespa scooters, before joining Isotta Fraschini and then Reggiane, where he developed his aircraft experience. Apart from a brief spell back at Isotta Fraschini, Lampredi worked at Ferrari for some time, developing the V12 engines, before leaving when Lancia was taken over in 1955 and Vittorio Jano took over the Grand Prix engine design. Lampredi then remained at FIAT for 27 years, designing all their engines until 1977 and then managing their Abarth factory racing group until 1982.
