Died in 2017. His F1 designs were highly regarded even if success was rare. Tolentino had a long association with Euroracing, both with their own effort in conjunction with Walter Brun, but also their Alfa Romeo Formula 1 effort. Mario designed the Alfa Romeo 184T and 185T and the EuroBrun ER188. He then went to Dallara to work on chassis design before joining AGS in 1991 for a short while before the team went into liquidation. Mario also worked in Formula 1 as a race engineer. After Formula 1, Mario worked in the DTM and also designed rally cars for Hyundai and Volkswagen and worked for BMW on their sportscar design, forging another link with friend Pierluigi Martini, who drove for the team.
