Simone holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Bologna and he joined Minardi in 1998 in their research and development team. He moved to Ferrari in 2001, becoming a design engineer. He stayed there in various roles until 2014 and between then and 2019, he either worked there or at Alfa Romeo. Although still with Ferrari, he worked with the Ferrari-engined Haas team from 2021 until 2023, as he was in charge of the technical partnership between the two teams. He also likes to cycle and follows Juventus football club. He joined Mercedes as a strategic development director in 2024.
