Started as an amateur, but excellent results led to hopes of top-flight racing. However his father died in 1965, which meant that he had to scale down his racing, and take over the family Casoni Liquors firm. He's run it ever since and has expanded it Worldwide, and also is now heavily involved in local business and commerce organisations. Casoni started racing in 1962, whilst studying accountancy at university, and did extremely well in hillclimbs, whilst he also took major sportscar wins in 1965 at Mugello and Enna-Pergusa. Despite his business demands, he continued racing until 1983, but remained close to Formula 1, as he sponsored Arturo Merzario when the Italian was in Grand Prix racing.
