Fletcher, who is of Scottish nationality, despite being English born, raced a Cooper T72 in British Formula 3 in the mid-1960's before finishing as runner-up in the 1966 Scottish Libre Championship. Fletcher raced for ages in sportscars, taking up the discipline in the mid 1960's, and continued until 1984. He often drove with Willie Tuckett when in a two-man event and Andrew almost exclusively drove in Chevron cars.
