Killed in a needless accident in the Dutch GP. A rugged talent with great potential, he was supported in the sport by Tom Wheatcroft, the owner of Donington Park. His evident talent had been honed in karting and then saloon racing with his performances in a Ford Anglia. When he moved into Formula 3 in 1971, his rise from there on was extraordinary, until the tragic events at Zandvoort two years later.
