Started in Formula Junior and was a regular in Irish club racing, including Formula Libre. Pollock later ran a lift company and his son Jason also raced. Died suddenly in 2010. Pollock got his Formula 2 chance via fellow Ulsterman Gerry Kinnane who fielded a Lotus 48-Ford in the first European F2 race of the 1969 season for John who had impressed in his home country. Formula 2 was a bit of a struggle but John continued to race on in Formula 5000 and Formula Atlantic until the late 1970's.
