Although very strong in anything he raced, he was particularly impressive in Formula 3. Born as John Charles Christopher Lambert, but always known as Chris. Although Lambert was born in Birmingham, he grew up in Weston-super-Mare where his father ran a hotel. Lambert worked for Dunlop as a rubber chemist at Fort Dunlop in Birmingham, whilst racing until a very successful spell in British Formula 3 meant Chris took up racing full-time, where he continued his promise until his death in 1968.
