Died in hospital of injuries sustained in a F2 crash at Zandvoort. Experienced racer, he did well in hillclimbs and national events, less so internationally. Began racing in 1953 and for the first few years, settled in F3. From 1958, he competed in sportscars, and in 1960, dovetailed that with Formula Junior. Raby also ran the Empire garage in Brighton. Raby's son, also called Ian, also raced in Formula Junior.
