Killed in a crash at Langhorne. Mike served as a marine in Guam during WW2 and fought at Guadalcanal. Nazaruk's family were originally from the Ukraine and Mike was bi-lingual. He intially worked as a delivery driver for a florist and then as a welder for an aircraft company before making it into racing. Nazaruk was a brilliant sprint and midget driver, who won the 1949 and 1953 ARDC Midget titles and came a brilliant second in his first Indianapolis 500. When he had his fatal crash, he was suffering from flu and it was only his desire to keep providing for his family that made him decide to race despite illness.
