Mainly competed in privately entered Ferrari sportscars, with many class wins, including at the 1951 Tour de France Automobile. Francois was a regular competitor in North Africa, especially Morocco, during the 1950's, so it was no surprise when he was given an entry for the nation's only Grand Prix in 1958. Unfortuantely though, his career was ended by a crash during the race and he then retired to live in Monaco, although he also had a base in Nice, where he worked. A businessman, he took up racing in 1949 and impressed racing a Porsche, before competing in Ferrari's.
