More or less retired now, after driving in GT's until recently, although in 2013, he announced plans to return to historic racing (in a Ligier), which he does sporadically, also racing in the odd endurance race too. Also dabbled in motorcycling and the Paris-Dakar rally! After retiring, he looked much older after ditching the black hair dye he used towards the end of his GP career so he could keep his seat in Formula 1, however he is also recovering from a serious battle against cancer, which Philippe has beaten after nearly two years of treatment. Ran his own endurance team and runs a kart track, as well as working in the media. Alliot got into racing quite late because his original plan was to go into politics, having studied it at university, but took the sport up after a track day at Nogaro. Philippe's Formula 1 career was largely a disappointment but he was not without talent, winning in European F3, Formula 3000, sportscars and also won the 1979 French Formula Renault title.
