Best remembered for his long affliation with Matra, for whom he raced for some time. Bonnin was a trained mechanic who, more often than not, prepared his own Formula 3 cars. Bonnin keeps his links to the sport as he appeared at the Retromobile classic car show in Paris in 2016. Bonnin did also race a March 732 in 1975 and 1976, however.
