Twice Le Mans champion, a legend in sportscars, who made up for starting his career relatively late age-wise. Regular historic racer, who was also involved in his family's flight school. Never made it to Formula 1, despite very impressive performances and wins in Formula 2 (runner-up in 1972) and Formula 3 (He won the 1970 French Formula 3 title), but his age at the time may've counted against him. Unfortunately he was in quite poor health before his death after complications from a heart-attack suffered whilst visiting Le Mans. Jean-Pierre also raced in touring cars in the 1980's.
