Still linked to the sport as he is vice-president of ASAC Basco Bearnais, who oversee and organise racing events in numerous disciplines in France, whether local or national events, but also specifically organise all races at Pau, where he was born. Also runs a real estate and legal firm. As a racer, Maxime raced in various Formula Renault series in France and Europe, becoming a race winner in 1973. He contested his home event at Pau in a Fred Opert entered Chevron B29 but that marked the end of his single-seater career. However in the late 1990's, he raced in French GT and carried on in the championship for five seasons, before retiring at the end of 2003.
