One of the top drivers in the Andros Trophy ice racing meetings, he has recently moved into motorsport management, running a racing driver development and management company in Villeneuve de Riviere, in Southern France. Marcel flies quite a lot in his own private plane and is a qualified pilot. Aside from ice racing, Tarres was an expert hillclimber and rally driver, winning over 30 races in the European Hillclimbing Championship and winning the French Hillclimbing Championship ten times between 1982 and 1993. He also won the Belgian title twice, in 1977 and 1978 and has also taken hillclimbing victories in Switzerland.
