A Professor of English, he is now retired from racing, but continued until recently to race in GT's and Le Mans every year. Alain still teaches, and currently lives in Paris. Filhol has always been bilingual, but enhanced his English whilst living and teaching in Hampshire in the 1990's, in tandem with being based in England for his racing career. Filhol raced in the Porsche Carrera Cup, the FIA GT series, French GT's, French Touring cars and the Le Mans Series during his long career. Filhol often works as a translator.
