Very varied racer, who competed in Formula 3, hillclimbs, rallying, Formula 5000, motorcycle racing and sportscars! Still alive, and keeps some links with historic racing. Bayard is also of Belgian ancestry. He started racing motorcycles in 1963, before moving to cars in 1966 and the Renault 8 Gordini Cup and then carried on four wheels until the early 2000's. He won the French hillclimb championship in 1970, the Belgian hillclimb championship 10 times between 1982 and 1993, seven hillclimb titles in Luxembourg and on two wheels, he was runner-up behind fellow motorcyclist-cum-single-seater racer, Jean-Pierre Beltoise, in the 1966 French 250cc motorcycle championship.
