Died after many years of ill-health, suffering from diabetes and Parkinson's Disease, in 2022. Before the on-set of illlness, this popular, ebullient man, worked in public relations and television - as a commentator - for a while and also acted as an assistant to the mayor at Le Cannet, where he was heavily involved in local community projects. A gymnasium was named after him in Le Cannet in 2020 as a tribute to his work locally. Patrick used to compete in special events, including the Grand Prix Masters in 2006, before illness intervened. Tambay previously ran a sports management company and was also involved, albeit briefly, in the ownership of the Larrousse team.
