Died suddenly in 2022. Until his death, he returned to many historic events, but was also a teacher of advanced driving techniques, as well as an advisor and manager to young Swedish drivers. Reine was one of Ronnie Peterson's strongest rivals for many years before his compatriot's career really took off. Wisell started racing back in 1962 in his nation's touring car championship in Ford Anglia and Mini Cooper cars. He won the 1967 Swedish Formula 3 championship and then went on to race in an array of events; Formula 2 and Formula 1, but also European Formula 5000, touring cars, sportscars and latterly the European GT Championship, before retiring in 1976. He also had a base in Thailand which is where he was residing at his death.
