Driver for the Caterham team in 2014, the first Swede in Formula 1 for over 20 years, Marcus then moved to Sauber for 2015, and remained with them in 2018 for a fourth successive season. Won the British Formula BMW title in 2007. Had a spell racing in Japan, and then spent a couple of years racing in GP2 before his promotion to F1. Although his team was hit with financial woes, his debut F1 season did see him involved in an array of crashes. 2018 proved somewhat of a breakout year where he initially outshone the highly rated Charles Leclerc but when Marcus faded as the season went on, he lost his seat. He remained in Formula 1 however as Alfa Romeo's reserve driver but also moved to Indycar for 2019 and remains in Indycar for 2022. That year saw him win the Indianapolis 500. He stays in Indycar for 2025.
