Killed during a Formula 2 race in Brazil. Grew up near Monza and was one of the founders of the Scuderia Italia team. Salvati worked in his parents' tyre shop before beginning his racing career in Formula Monza. He enjoyed an immensely successful 1970, winning the Italian Formula 3 Championship, a race in the French Formula 3 championship and also making a strong debut in the Formula 2 series. He had some reasonable results in 1971 but his tragic death meant his true potential was never realised.
