Died of injuries sustained in a huge crash in the Monza 1000km. A proud Swiss national, he started in hillclimbs, then moved into Formula 3. In Formula 2, he ran his own team and finally finished racing in sportscars, which was the discipline in which he did well in before moving into single-seaters. An immensely hard-trying and hard-working person, Silvio was the 1964 Temporada Formula 2 Champion who also won in Italian and French Formula 3. Moser would've returned to Grand Prix racing in a private Brabham BT42 for the Spanish Grand Prix of 1974 but for his death just before the event.
