Now runs a garage with his brothers in Switzerland, after working at his dad's (Karl) garage. The brothers recently bought their own business after their father retired in 2007. Foitek, in recent years, even returned to the sport - he was in charge of a team in the European Ferrari Challenge. He does driving training affiliated with the garage including both track experience and ice-racing. Foitek, as a driver, won the 1986 Swiss Formula 3 Championship, but his career will always be overshadowed by his involvement in the 1988 Formula 3000 crash that left Johnny Herbert with serious injuries. Although he had a reputation of a wild driver, Foitek was very, very fast indeed and with arguably a bit more race-craft and patience, could've enjoyed a very different career trajectory. Gregor later had a brief career in Indycars.
