Tragically killed in a ski-ing accident. Favre had retired as a driver and until his death was involved in motorsport journalism and media, was an event organiser and ran a racing school, where he was one of the chief instructors. He was a driver mentor to a number of youngsters. Philippe came a very close second in one of the most memorable Formula Ford Festivals in 1986, just missing out to Roland Ratzenberger. Favre, who remained in Britain in 1987, winning at Donington, lived in England between 1985 and 1989, before racing in Japan, coming very close indeed to racing for Leyton House in Formula 1 in 1990. He then raced in sportscars until the very early 2000's, becoming a works driver for Honda.
