Drove in touring cars and sportscars after Formula 1. His stepson, Jack Clarke, raced in the Formula 2 series and more recently, in British Touring Cars, and Julian helped him but does also occasionally test cars and did do, until recently, the odd corporate event. However more recently he spent more time on his property interests and pub renovation in Surrey, which included a spell of running a successful pub called the William Bray in Shere, Surrey (Bailey is no longer involved with this). Bailey enjoyed a decent career in the sport, overcoming a huge accident right as his career started in 1980 when he broke a leg, hand and arm in a Formula Ford accident, to eventually move up the ranks. Bailey has been based in Surrey since his time with Tyrrell. Clarke and Julian's son, Daniel, now run the Veloce Racing team in Extreme E, whilst Julian's wife, Deborah runs the famed MPA Creative motorsport public relations firm.
