Now involved in a motorcyvle club. Also works as a technical expert for agricultural machinery and is a local politician in Trecate. Gianfranco studied law at both the Universities of Milan and Pavia. Gianfranco, a deeply religious man, is a businessman now and is a member of the Christian Union of Entrepreneurs and Executives of Novara. An ex-karter, Gianfranco did compete in sportscars as well as single-seaters and for a while worked as a safe driving instructor. He still keeps links to the sport via his membership of the UNVS National Union Veterans of Sport Section of Novara. Until May 2, 2011, Tacchino was Vice President of the Commission of Ethics Code of the Democratic Party of Piedmont, Member of the Executive Board of Piedmont and of the Assembly of the Democratic Party of the Province of Novara. Through his political work, Gianfranco has become a good friend of the legendary Italian footballer (now a politician), Gianni Rivera.
