Extremely successful in karting, which he started in as a nine year old, Monfardini went on to race for a few years in the GP2 series which replaced Formula 3000, before moving into endurance racing - mainly the International GT Open series. In 2015, after some years either without a drive or with only a few endurance races a year, Ferdinando raced in the Italian GT series in the GT Cup category. He continued in the same series in 2016, but in the GT3 category. In 2017, he is working as a racing driver coach and instructor but specifically with teams and drivers in either Italian GT racing or the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series, having now stopped his racing. He also works for Giancarlo Fisichella's driving academy as a driving coach.
