Giambattista won the 1991 Italian Formula 3 series ahead of Mimmo Schiattarella, but a lack of money meant that Busi only completed half-a-season of Formula 3000 without any further hope of progressing. After single-seaters finished, Giambattista was a regular racer in touring cars and competed in his homeland but also in Spain and even Japan before retiring from driving. Giambattista now works as a manager in the photovoltaic industry in Verdellino, Bergamo.
