Now a racing instructor and also runs a large Alfa Romeo garage in Arezzo, but he has also competed in top-level yachting. An ex-karter, Tamburini moved after a while into Italian Formula 3, where he became a consistent race winner in 1988 and 1989 and then won the Monaco Formula 3 race in the latter year. Antonio finished a close runner-up to Gianni Morbidelli but his 1990 season in Formula 3000 didn't go well. Despite a reasonable 1991 season, his career momentum was lost and he moved to touring cars before retiring as a driver in 1997.
