For years he raced in CART. He was ITV's F1 summariser although he continued to race until 2013 in a number of endurance events, largely part-time. At the end of 2013, he stopped racing - he was in British GT at the time - and concentrated fully on running his sports management company, 2MB. However Mark still races frequently at historic events (In 2021 he was in the Heritage Touring Cup with Mike Conway) and in 2019 made a surprise return to top-line racing in the British Touring Car Series. However it didn't go that well and Mark decided to retire from full-time racing thereafter. He stays in the series though as a sporting director and owner of his own touring car team. Blundell, unlike many of his rivals, never raced in karts, starting his career racing motorbikes before switching to Formula Ford in 1984.
