Still involved in media and journalism, but in 2003, after suffering an injury, Perry was no longer racing. That was until 2019, when he made a surprise return to racing in a number of rallycross events internationally, but is no longer taking part in events. He released a book about his life and career, including the farcical Andrea Moda experience, in 2002 - Flat Out, Flat Broke and has since become a top after-dinner speaker after it became a bestseller. In fact his literary success meant a complete shift from focus from his sportscar career he then pursued. In recent years he has also been involved as a young driver coach and advisor. In 2022, he became a co-onwer and commercial director of Crawley Wasps, a women's football team. He lives in Billericay, Essex.
