Son of Danilo Tesini, Nicola left the sport after his Formula 3000 spell to gain a degree in political science, which helped him towards his new career in journalism. He is still a racing journalist and has undertaken a number of track tests for both racing and road cars since the early 1990's. He is also head of an Italian drift association and also drives in it occasionally and works as a racing instructor for a number of schools, including Siegfried Stohr's school. Before Formula 3000, Tesini raced in Italian F2000, coming 2nd in the series in 1984, before progressing to Italian F3, and then F3000. He has also raced in touring cars and in the Nurburgring 24 Hours.
