Former close kart rival of Alonso, Matteo spent a long time in lower formulae but also dabbled in GT's. Joined the World Series by Renault in 2005 and raced there in 2006 as well, before going back to a very poorly supported Italian F3. Finished his career in Italian GT's, but is now no longer in the sport, and as well as being a student of fine arts in Padua, he is involved in the family transport business.
