Former Toyota F1 protege, who moved to the US and the IRL in 2005. Injury stalled his career, but he appeared in CART, A1 GP and some V8 series races in his homeland, before finding a permanent drive in the ALMS series. This went very well and facilitated a return to the IRL in 2008. Until 2013, he raced full-time in the series, but that year saw him race in ALMS, V8 Supercars and Le Mans, as well as appearing at the Indy 500 and other Indycar races. He remained in the Indycar series for one more year in 2014, but in 2015 didn't produce a single-seater ride, bar subbing in at the Indy 500, and so Ryan is now a full-time endurance racer in the IMSA GT series and the World Endurance Championship.
