Indy 500s: | 1 (2016) |
Although born in the US whilst father Geoff raced there, Matthew began racing in Australia in karts. Brabham then moved into Australian Formula Ford before moving back to the United States in 2012. He won that year's US Formula 2000 National Series. Prior to Matthew's Indianapolis 500 debut in 2016, the Grandson of Sir Jack raced in off-road events, Formula E and Indy Lights. Brabham follows Sir Jack and Geoff as another third generation racer at the Indianapolis 500. In 2017, Matthew couldn't find any single-seater drives so went back to Australia in trucks and Super V8 touring cars, although in 2018, he moved to Stadium Super Trucks in the US. He won the title and was in the series again in 2021 as well as racing in the S5000 Australian open-wheel series. In 2022, he took the slightly surprising move back to Indy Lights in an attempt to restart his single-seater career. In 2023, he moved into Trans-Am and in 2024 he is racing in IMSA.
