Originally spotted by Sarah Fisher's father, Dave, as a youngster, Zach progressed through Formula BMW, US Formula 2000 (winning the winter title in 2011); Star Mazda and Indy Lights before moving up to the Indycar series and then the Indianapolis 500 in 2017. Veach has also been heavily involved in anti-distraction driving campaigns; he created an app to stop texting on phones when driving and he is a spokesperson for focus driving charities. He does television and literary work to raise awareness of this issue. He remained in the Indycar Series for 2020 but for 2021, moved into sportscars and the IMSA series. In 2022, he moved into sprint-car racing. More recently, he has worked as a reserve and simulator driver for Arrow McLaren, as well as a spotter for them, dovetailing that with his drive in the Michelin Pilot series.
