For years, David was a top sportscar racer, either in Japan, America or Europe. His base though is in the same country of his birth, England, in Oxfordshire. He also runs a young driver performance school in the UK. In 2015, Brabham followed in the footsteps of his famous father and both raced and ran a Brabham racing team - this one was in sportscars, which has led to his racing career drawing to a close. Although the team has disbanded, David is in charge of the Brabham legacy, with keen involvement in branding and historic racing accordingly. In 2018, he launched Brabham Automotive. and in 2019, announced plans for a sportscar team to appear at Le Mans in 2022. The car has started racing in Britcar and now European GT2 and in 2023, also moved into e-sports. Brabham, in terms of personality, is probably the closest of Jack's three sons to Sir Jack - his steely resolve led Simtek through a harrowing time in 1994 as well as continued success in sportscars, but as a person, David is a down-to-earth relaxed individual with a keen sense of racing history. Initially, however, David was the one son of Sir Jack's who wasn't interested in racing and worked on the family farm instead and only started racing aged twenty.
