Killed in a club meeting at Brands Hatch. A motor trader in both Australia - in his home city of Melbourne - and England, he ran a motoring caravan business in Brentford. Purely amateur, he raced for fun, although he didn't take up racing until he moved to England in 1966, racing in the Formula Ford 1600 series. Brian then combined racing with his businesses, appearing in Formula 3, Formula 300 and the British Group Eight series, winning in the latter at Thruxton in 1976. In was in that series that he had his fatal crash a little over a year later.
