Australia |
Grands Prix: | 257 (2011-2024) |
Got his big chance in 2014 with Red Bull after spells at Toro Rosso and HRT, where he did reasonably, but really came into his own with the Red Bull drive, taking his first win at the Canadian Grand Prix in 2014, and following that up with more wins later in the season. British Formula 3 champion in 2009, he spent a lot of time in the Formula Renault series before moving up. In 2019, he surprised many by moving to Renault. In 2021, after a mixed time at Renault, he joined McLaren and remained there in 2022, but his performances were not at all stellar (despite a surprise win at the Italian Grand Prix 2021) and as such, lost his F1 seat at the end of 2022. In 2023, he returned half-way through the season to race for Alpha Tauri and stayed there in 2024 in their VCARB guise. More underwhelming performances led to his departure from Formula 1 mid-way through the 2024 season. He appears to have finished his racing career and is using his millions in different ways; he is an executive producer on a few television shows, has a couple of fashion merchandise businesses and also has a partnership with the wine brand, St Hugo, and his own wine, DR3 which he promotes.
