Went on to race in Japan for many years, but he ended up doing his last full season in GT racing back in 1996. After a one-off Formula Nippon drive in 1997, his only races thereafter have been at Le Mans. His finest achievement was most probably winning the 1992 Japanese Formula 3000 Championship. Mauro is now retired as a driver but still retains an interest in the sport. Lives in Ravenna.
