Competitive in sportscars before and after F1, Jean-Denis initally announced his racing retirement at the end of the 2003 season, as he was 40 years old, but soon reversed it, as in 2004, he signed up with Ferrari to race at Le Mans, Sebring and the LMES. He stayed with Ferrari for a few years, then carried on racing in endurance racing full-time for a few years. Although he now races in historic events full-time, he does occasionally compete in long-distance endurance races. Lives in Vessy, in the Geneva area. His son, Louis, is now racing in the sport. The younger Deletraz is now in Formula 2 and so Jean-Denis spends a large amount of time working with him to aim for Formula 1.
